Femdom, Sci Fi and Star Wars

Sci-Fi has always served as an inspiration for people interested into role play - and kink. Today, the ninth Star Wars movie is being released. Time to mix some kink with Star Wars.

Oh, the force is with me all the time.

Midway through December, the holidays just around the corner, it's time for a little banter. In the almost five years that my blog has been up and running, I've often advocated not to take your kink too seriously. Don't worry, I say the same thing about life. Anything I do take seriously? Yes, love, not the easiest of topics, especially not in a community where most believe submission is about matters of the heart rather than their own animal desires.

Those in charge of the Fifty Shades movies, suffer from a similar flaw. The third instalment of Fifty Shades, called Fifty Shades Freed, will be released a few days before Valentine's Day 2018. By the way, it is being marketed as "Don't miss the climax." The difference between "them" and "us" is that they are not expected to understand kink. To them, kink equals love in some bizarre, sick way they cannot comprehend. Because of that, they assume it is a great idea to release a movie, glorifying sexual and emotional abuse in early February, around that time where one has to "get romantic". That is, if you surrender yourself to the official Hallmark calendar of course. I wonder how many couples break up after having seen Fifty Shades, and yes that always makes me smile. I'm a bad person, I know.

Of course certain Disney films, think Beauty And The Beast, have a femdom theme too. It is not something the Mickey Mouse company realized when they released the movie. Even worse, before the media behemoth starts thinking about voluntarily promoting femdom, it should pay attention to how women in general are portrayed in their movies. After all, in many movies the princess is no more than a prop, waiting for her prince to set her free and live happily ever after, doing chores.

Good thing then, Fifty Shades is not distributed by Disney. Star Wars, however, is. In 2012 Disney bought Lucasfilm, including the rights to this blue planet's most famous space opera. Today the ninth Star Wars movie, called Episode VIII (8), The Last Jedi - yes Star Wars can be confusing - is being released just in time for Christmas. You gotta hand it to Disney, they know how to flog their merchandise.

Imperial guardess in the world of kink
When I wrote about how the big BDSM truth, aka The Big Bang Theory, stealthily tried to promote femdom, I ran into a 2011 article by mistress Matisse, explaining why nerds and geeks rule femdom because of their high tolerance for socially nonconforming behaviour. I believe the truth is in the eye of the beholder, but mistress Matisse may be on to something.

Skipping [pseudo] science, there definitely is an undeniable connection between science fiction and kink. One of my earliest blogposts marvels at the discovery of a Tardis paddle. I even tried my hand at an April's fool joke when I wrote about a chastity device that was bigger on the inside  - and blue. Then of course there are those Star Wars inspired floggers. Meanwhile in a parallel universe, some fan has written an entire series about captain Janeway, a character from Star Trek Voyager, as a dominatrix. Go figure!

Is that a light sabre in your hand,
or are you just happy to see me?
Me, I'm not a huge fan of Star Wars. Doctor Who however, is something entirely different. I pleaded to get rid of impossible girl Clara Oswald, only to find myself one year later rooting for Bill, hoping she wouldn't be killed of. In all honesty, nobody ever listens to me. Spoiler alert: ultimate adventure girl Bill will be back for the 2018 Christmas episode of Doctor Who. Yeah!

Like it or not, kink and sci fi are deeply connected. Nothing better illustrates the link between the two of them than Yapoo. The infamous femdom video label is based upon a post-war sci fi Japanese novel, describing the humiliation Japan felt after losing the second World War.

So, kink and sci fi are clearly connected, but where does it leaves Star Wars? Good thing then, whatever is going on in fighting the force, it happens in a galaxy, far, far away. Best to leave it there. On earth meanwhile, some kinky folk manage to find inspiration in the force. The image below is my favourite one. It looks a bit like a Banksy. A girl has an - extraterrestrial - camel on a leash. The image not only highlights the [assumed] physical difference in power, but by giving the girl a pony tail, makes it all the more absurd. The way the artist portrays the leash, suggests the camel [a fierce killing machine in the movies] follows the girl unquestioned. I think that is pretty cool. Despite that, I'm not going to see The Last Jedi. To each his own.
